Access Control

Access Control is an essential element of managing people and protecting assets

Access control systems manage the movement of people, highlight attempts to access unauthorised areas and keep people safe from outside intrusions.

Access control systems also integrate into a wide variety of 3rd party systems managing not only security and building automation but also people and building continuity processes. This helps to reduce costs or enable compliance with regulations within HR, health and safety, IT or environmental departments.

Standalone Access Control

Great for one or more independent doors with a relatively small number of users. These systems are easily extended if capacity increases. Any administration of the system is executed at the door itself negating the need for a network.

Networked Access Control

Great for sites with multiple doors and users. Administration is performed from a centralised computer meaning multiple doors are configured together or in groups. Flexible control allows different permissions for individuals or groups of users. Advanced features enable event reporting and integration with 3rd party systems like fire alarms and CCTV systems. This for example, unlocks all doors automatically in the event of a fire alarm or visually identifies personnel attempting to gain access.

Cloud Based Access Control

For large or multiple sites you may prefer a cloud based system which is administered from anywhere with an internet connection. For systems up to 1000 doors cloud based solutions have the added advantage of being backed up securely off site. They are easily scalable at local, national and global levels. These systems are packed with innovative features and are a vital asset when it comes to building and facility management.

Biometric Access Control

Biometric readers add an additional layer of security by providing unique credentials for each user. Instead of an access card or smart phone a person would use their own physical characteristics for example their eyes or finger print to gain access. This reduces the chance of credential theft and cloning. Users tend to find this type of access control easier as they don’t have to remember their access card and pin number.

Utilise Your Smart Phone

With NFC & BLE technology we are able to provide systems that utilise your smart phone as your access credential. Using very similar technology as smart phone contactless payment negates the need for separate access cards. Many access control systems now support these future facing technologies.

Access System Security

For higher security applications we specify systems with readers that meet certain security requirements like AES-128 end to end encryption and MAC authentication. Readers store cryptographic keys on certified EAL6+ secure element hardware. Custom authentication keys are used to further enhance security and other features prevent against brute force rapid electronic attacks.
